On 28 September 2020, Australia's Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment issued the Animal Biosafety Recommendations 2020-A05, which released a draft review of the biosecurity risks of prawns imported from all countries for human consumption. The draft report recommends that biosecurity risks associated with importing non-viable, farm-sourced, frozen, uncooked, whole prawns intended for human consumption and proposes conditions under which imports may be allowed to manage these risks. The comments period is until January 15, 2021.
